Welcome to The Power of Change.
We're a dedicated and experienced group of Independent Therapists located in Woodbury, MN and we proudly serve individuals and families from around the Twin Cities metro area.
We offer a multi-disciplinary staff that includes child therapy specialists,
adult therapists, couple’s counselors, family therapy counselors, as well as provide Minnesota
custody/parenting time evaluations.
We work with a variety of mental health conditions including but not limited to Anxiety and
Anxiety-related disorders, Depression and other mood-related disorders, Trauma, Grief and Loss,
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and other disorders of early childhood.
Beyond individual therapy, we offer couples counseling, family therapy, parent-child therapy,
and custody/parenting time evaluations.
David Comparetto MA, LMFT
David Comparetto , is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Woodbury Minnesota. He works with adults and teens, ages 16 and up, as well as with couples and families. Dave works collaboratively with clients to identify and enhance their strengths while reducing the negative self-talk that is associated with depression and anxiety. He teaches clients to understand how their thoughts impact feelings and behaviors. Dave uses humor, empathy, and compassion in his person-centered, cognitive-behavioral approach while helping people explore short and long-term goals for themselves in their lives.
In his work with couples, Dave enjoys helping people learn communication skills so that they reach a resolution in conflicts, and helps couples rediscover their passion for one another. He specializes in working with couples through affairs. Dave is certified in Prepare-Enrich, helping couples who are getting married to communicate their values and beliefs with one another.
Dave earned his Master's degree from the University of the Rockies In Denver Colorado, and his Post Master’s Certificate in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas. He worked as a therapist in the St. Paul school district for several years. Dave uses Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to help teens who are struggling to overcome trauma-related symptoms.
In addition to therapy, Dave Provides custody evaluations for families going through the divorce process in the Twin Cities area. Dave works with families to find solutions to parenting time and custody, and to advocate for the wellbeing of the children involved.
In his spare time, Dave enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, he enjoys following the local sports teams and he is a Minnesota Vikings superfan. Dave likes making people around him laugh and have a good time with his sarcastic sense of humor.

Vanessa Schulte, M.S.W, LICSW
Vanessa Schulte, MSW, LICSW is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of
Minnesota, and also holds licenses in Iowa and Wisconsin. She provides counseling services to
children, teens, young adults and their families. In addition to therapy, Vanessa works as a
school social worker. Her experience working in schools helps her relate to her child and
adolescent clients and their struggles.
Vanessa enjoys working with people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief or loss,
self harming behavior, trauma related suffering, relational aggression, eating disorders, bullying,
bipolar disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, stress, trauma, substance abuse, eating
disorders, life transitions, and disorders of childhood including attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder, oppositional defiant disorder and other behavioral disorders of childhood.
Clients working with Vanessa can expect a friendly and non-judgmental person who will
always treat you with respect and dignity. She creates a safe, and welcoming environment
where her clients feel open to exploring their emotions, thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors. She
strives to instill hope in every session, and Vanessa utilizes her empathic nature to connect with
clients and help them develop self-awareness, self-confidence, and coping skills.
Her psychotherapy is relationship based and incorporates a focus on the strengths of each
person. She is committed to providing unconditional positive regard for every client and she
believes in the inherent good of all human beings. Each client has a unique story to tell that
offers the foundation for transformation and change; she looks forward to hearing your story and

Vanessa received her Master of Social Work degree from Augsburg College, and has worked in
the field for over 15 years. She has experience working in out-patient therapy, educational
settings, a community mental health clinic, and a non-profit. Currently she is the Vice President
of The Suicide Prevention Collaborative. She is also Yoga Calm certified.

Andrea Hidlebaugh, MSW, LICSW
is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the
state of Minnesota. She works with children, teens, adults, and families. Andrea completed
a Master of Social Work degree from the University of St. Catherine, and has worked in
both community-based and hospital settings for over 20 years.
Andrea has experience treating a variety of presenting problems including Depression,
Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, and disorders
of childhood including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder
and other behavioral disorders of childhood. Andrea also has extensive experience working
with client’s and families struggling with chemical health concerns.
Andrea views each individual and family uniquely and works collaboratively with individuals
to identify not only areas of need and challenge, but also the strengths and goals that can
lead to positive change. Andrea values client autonomy and empowerment. Each client’s
progress, coping strategies, and treatment plans are unique to them and their journey.
Andrea achieves this by utilizing principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical
Behavior Therapy, Strengths-Based and Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and
Emotion Regulation, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and
Narrative Therapy.
Andrea believes change can happen when a safe and trusting relationship is developed
between client and clinician. Andrea strives to use a non-judgmental, authentic, and
collaborative approach to relationship building with clients of all ages. For younger clients
this may include a variety of play therapy.
Andrea has extensive experience with individuals and family members of loved ones who
struggle with chronic medical conditions including physical, mental, behavioral and chemical
health issues. Her primary goal is to increase effective communication, self-esteem, stress
management, symptom recognition and management, as well as to reduce relationship
conflict, and self-injurious behaviors and thinking. Andrea focuses on creating individualized
treatment plans that supports a more positive and healthy life for her clients.
